Board Certified Patient Advocate

Carol Seligson Fabi, BCPA

My work is to offer whatever aid is needed to clarify and navigate our complex healthcare system based on an individual’s particular needs. While my passion and interest is to help all individuals and their families, the senior and differently abled communities hold particular interest for me.

about me

I live in Venice, California and was officially Board Certified as a Patient Advocate in October of 2024.  I have unofficially advocated for family and friends for a decade. The turning point for me was when I watched a close friend with Hepatitis C being denied lifesaving care. I stepped in to help her fight for herself, navigating doctors, clinics and pharmacies, eventually getting her the care she needed. I realized how powerful and necessary it is to have an advocate, someone in your corner when it comes to healthcare.

I was part of the “sandwich generation” caring for both my mother, who had dementia, and my father who had heart disease. At present, I have a health care POA that allows me to oversee the care of a dear friend with dementia. I am responsible for selecting her doctors and coordinating both her healthcare and in-home care. I am passionate about wanting to help clients and family members navigate our complicated and often unfair health care system.

In addition, I have a background in Insurance (licensed in CA and NY) specializing in Medicare and Medicaid.

I’ve know Carol Seligson Fabi for may decades and highly recommend her as a patient advocate. Through the years Carol  has been both a lifelong friend to my 85 year old sister Barbara, and over the last seven years, Carol has been my sister’s primary health advocate and advisor to Barbara and our family. About seven years ago, Barbara was diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment which has unfortunately now grown to full dementia.

Carol has been involved all along the way with navigating Barbara’s treatments, doctors, protocols etc. I strongly recommend Carol Fabi to any family or individual looking for a health advocate who can coordinate doctor visits, treatments, communications with hospitals another healthcare professionals and services. She is extremely knowledgeable in all forms of geriatric medicine and insurance coverages and understands the importance of a patient’s rights and needs for a healthcare proxy.
